On 9 May, we’ll celebrate Europe Day in Liepāja — a day that reminds us that Europe is more than just a place on the map. Europe begins with us: with our voices, choices, conversations, dreams, and our ability to come together.

Europe Day 2027 in Liepāja will be an open and vibrant meeting place for different generations, communities, and interests. Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity not only to listen and watch but also to take part, create, get moving, exchange ideas, and meet new people.

We’ll kick off the day full of energy with a shared morning workout, bringing Liepāja, South Kurzeme, Kuldīga, and other regions of Latvia together in movement and unity.

You can look forward to talks and discussions on European values, democracy, civic participation, security, the role of young people, and the future of Europe, as well as interactive activities and giant games for children, young people, and adults.

Everyone will have the chance to share their wishes, dreams, or visions for the future of Europe by contributing to a collaborative installation, “The Sail of European Dreams”. You’ll also be able to discover the diverse cultures, people, and ideas that shape our shared European space.

And most importantly, it’s an opportunity to be part of a story we create together.

Because Europe is more than institutions, borders, or a map. It’s a space we shape together.
Europe Day 2027 is implemented as part of the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme, with funding provided by Liepāja State City Municipality, South Kurzeme Municipality, Kuldīga Municipality and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
