On July 16, the band MǬ will perform at Pegaza Pagalms. The group represents a new generation of ethno-jazz musicians from Ventspils, blending the aesthetics of Latvian folk songs with contemporary jazz and electronic music.

The band was founded in 2023 and has already attracted attention with its creative approach and active concert performances. The group’s name is borrowed from a word in the Livonian language meaning “earth.”

The musicians create authentic, colorful, and emotionally rich music in which the lyrics of traditional folk songs gain new life through vivid arrangements infused with jazz and electronic elements.

Since its formation, the band has received recognition in various competitions and has been actively performing while creating new material. The group is currently working on its debut album, and songs in the Livonian language hold a special place in MǬ’s concert programs.

Their shared goal is to create music that resonates emotionally, connects tradition with modernity, and offers listeners an engaging musical experience.
