Artist Diāna Adamaite explores the concept of moving on various levels – it can be a spiritual movement provoked by the moment of creation of a piece of art, or advancing from the tangible world into the metaphysical, caused in one’s perception by a spatial experience, and it also represents her many travels. Until recently, Diāna Adamaite’s art has been abstract, but the exhibition Moving will be the first time we will see small realistic paintings of the seaside landscapes of Liepāja. The artist has also created new large format abstract paintings for this exhibition. Viewers are welcome to the opening of the exhibition in art space Civita Nova on July 12, at 5 p.m. 

Diāna Adamaite’s abstract works resemble a notation of dance, representing gestures and movements with special symbols. It is part of the so-called Asian movement in contemporary Western art, which developed in the twentieth century focusing on the bodily experience as the origin of characters. The artist’s abstract works are reminiscent of Plato’s world of forms, a realm of eternal, true, and immaterial things.
