The artists' residence of Karosta water tower, which was awarded with the Latvian media annual award "Kilogram of Culture", is opening its doors for the fifth summer.
It is an opportunity not only to enjoy the historical architecture of the water tower and the impressive interior of the tower, but also to experience the aura of creativity, looking into the daily work of outstanding artists. Each season, the tower serves as an pop-up workshop and exhibition space for various highly acclaimed artists.
The tower can be visited daily from 13.00 to 17.00 until the end of summer without an entrance fee.
The curator of the residence - sculptor Egons Peršēvics invites the most outstanding artists of Latvia to move their workshops and exhibit their works for public viewing during summers. THIS YEAR'S RESIDING PAINTERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.
Every summer, alongside the painters, the curator of the residence also works in the tower. The sculptor created many portrait studios here and several of his large-format works were also created here - including the legendary Mermaid of Karosta and the "Artist's Manifesto".
