Independence Day concert. 105 Years of Latvia

17.11.2023. 19.00–21.00
Koncertzāle "Lielais dzintars", Lielā zāle (Radio iela 8, Liepāja)

We will celebrate the 105th anniversary of Latvia together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and pianist Andrejs Osokins, who, under the leadership of conductor Jānis Liepiņš, will proudly explore the work of several authors of Latvian music, all so wonderful and different in their artistic expression. Truly brilliant, yet rarely performed pieces by masters of symphony music Ādolfs Skulte and Jānis Ivanovs will be performed among the spectrum of noteworthy composers in the program. An original piece by contemporary composer Zigmars Liepiņš, who grew up in Liepāja, will be a special treat of the concert, as it was composed specifically for this occasion.

Program:

PART I

Ādolfs Skulte. Symphony No. 9

PART II

Jānis Ivanovs. Symphonic Poem ‘Lāčplēsis’

Zigmars Liepiņš. Piano Concerto

Participants:

Liepāja Symphony Orchestra

Jānis Liepiņš, conductor
