From January 28 to May 7, the gallery "Romas dārzs" will present an exhibition of paintings "Blue Shadows" by the artist Neonilla Medvedeva. This is a collection of landscapes and sketches painted from nature en plein air in picturesque places in Latvia and Italy.

In landscape painting, the image of light and shadow is of great importance. Bright white sunlight is accentuated by colorful shadows: warm or cold. They echo the color of the sky: from azure to blue and purple. Blue shadows on the snow are like piano keys: the sound of these colors is very harmonious.

The blue color conveys fragility and purity, sets you up for reflection and appeasement. It is the color of the sky and the reflection of the sky in water and on snow. The darker the shadow, the more light is required. Something similar happens with people: the more “shadows” and losses a person experiences, the more he appreciates the kind and good in life, strives for “light”. Light changes every day, changes the face of nature and the mood of man. Man and nature, color and feelings are interconnected, and painting reflects these amazing connections.
